A message from your President.......
November Newsletter
The Interesting
Gardening Club had a very well attended meeting on November 10th
at the Salle des Fetes in Coutures. It was lovely to welcome some new
members as well as many old friends. Erica Lainé gave us an
entertaining and informative talk on ‘Pests’ with wonderful
illustrations. Many of us now recognise the good (and bad!) insects we
meet in the garden and countryside.
This was
followed by a discussion on our ‘Autumn Watch’ findings. Members had
compiled records on what fauna they came across on October 21st.
This had proved to be a very quiet and still day, with less than normal
animal activity in our gardens. However, our group discussions showed
that several unusual creatures were spotted: a green tree frog, hoopoe
birds and salamanders, to name but a few. The IGC Webmaster is
currently compiling the results of our findings and these will be put on
the web. The meeting finished with a delicious ‘Pot Luck’ lunch.
The next
meeting on December 9th is the Christmas Tea Party and Quiz.
This will be held at 3.30p.m. at La Roussie near Lusignac. All members
are cordially invited and asked to bring a small plate of mince pies or
festive cakes/shortbread. A gardening Quiz will follow with a prize for
the winning team!
Members are
reminded that the A.G.M. will be on Thursday 13th January at
Coutures.
